  i have seen debates and shizzle about god or not god etc etc.. i was even confronted by an aggressive and trheatening muslim in the street, who was angry that i wanted proof that god existed.

  he ranted on a load of old b0110cks about 'hell' and stuff.

  If you want a short cut just look for a glossary on line. Try the terms "doublespeak, blackwhite or unperson". I guarantee your hair will stand on end.

  Cofty - Everyone who has ever called themselves a JW has succumbed to closed minded obedience. It is a treasured state of mind in search of "unity of thought", obedience to theocratic direction. "Listen, Obey and be Blessed", that song actually comes near to making me physically vomit.

  I have decided to read George Orwell 1984 again, there never has been a better description of NW theocracy. If you take away the theos from theocracy you end up with a superficially benevolent dictatorship. The benevalence slips when it suits. Again I digress.

  punk, it makes me sad when she says with a rear in her eye. that she has thought about all these issues. I was there when she spoke to Lloyd Barry, a lovely man by the way, saying she could not understand why animals ate each other. Lloyd gently reprimanded her, he said "I've seen people go out of the truth asking questions like that"

  When I hear these thoughts it makes me think that there must be thousands of people ploughing the same furrow. We all think our experiences and problems are unique but there are always others. Thats why being able to sound off or read other's thoughts is so good. Being consigned to silence is bad for the soul.

  Thanks Cofty, I was discussing matters with my very elderly but sharp mother the other day and she ended up saying that you need faith. That was her last bulwark. I didn't push it any further, can you imagine having to face the fact that 65 years of your life have been wasted? That when you are so old you have no where else to go? When we talk she agrees with every point individually but cannot take the implications of seeing the whole picture.

  I am not going to force it any further, she is nearly 100 years old, all I can see is the tragedy of a wasted life.

  "i believe faith is given by god,and you need to beg him for it"

  Er, Errr, so you have to beg an entity in whose existance you don't believe for faith because there is no evidence for that entities existance without being given it by that invisible enttity.

  So to boil that down, the only way to have faith in god is to first have faith in god.

  So to have faith, you neeed faith.

  If you don't have faith, there is no way to get faith. Have I got that wrong?

  I couldn't do that Most Noble, i couldn't dispense sewage. What happens for the oral review. Q, A, thankyou bruv. It takes me ages to steer the line between hypocracy and acceptability. I have developed a few tricks though.

  The only thing I miss about not being an elder is the platform. I am good at it and am probably a bit addicted to hearing my own voice. I got a buzz out of having an audience in my hand.

  Now, the only time I do this is with Min School talks and some answers. I am very careful to not compromise my none-JW principles when doing this. I find an angle that is vaguely relevant, entertaining and slightly undermining. The dyed in the wool r & f nod sagely as they always do. Those that are aware can see what I am doing. It is a challenge though. I always get all sorts of pats on the back after the meeting, I always wonder how long it will be before I am rumbled.

  Does anyone else try to walk this line or am I alone?

  Most Noble, I am still in because of family. I have been an elder and had a chequered career as a witness. I have been in an out Dfd three bloody times. Even now they would like me to "reach out", I could not be an elder again. I would never ever do that. I would never serve again as an elder or MS. I would never sit in judgement over someone else again dispensing Brooklyn trumped up justice. I willl never do a return Vis. I will never do anything to actively encourage anyone to be a witness.

  You don't have to be an elder. You don't have to tell lies every time you open your mouth on the platform. It is your choice. I accept that there are many like me who still maintain some semblence of still being in, there are many who despise that. My conscience would never allow me to be an appointed man now, I struggle to even give a five minute talk or even an answer without compromising.

  Yes grow a pair, be your own man.
